The Apollo 16 Core Tube Socket

Hammered directly into the surface of the Moon

One of the rarest and most significant lunar artifacts on Earth!

We are pleased to offer one of the rarest of all possible lunar artifacts ;
namely, an object that literally touched the actual surface of the Moon!

While any item that landed on the Moon is of the highest rarity, the most
desirable of all is one that literally touched the actual lunar surface itself.

The accompanying Apollo 16 "Core Tube Socket" is one such treasure!

This socket joined the various sections of the "Core Tube Sampler" that
was literally hammered into the Moon by Charlie Duke and John Young.
Once withdrawn, the core tube contained a cross-section of lunar strata.

Further, this unique tool not only literally touched the face of the moon,
but was also photographed while inserted into the actual lunar surface!

This remarkable object literally represents one of only a handful of items
currently residing on Earth to ever make physical contact with the Moon!

Accordingly, it is a surreal object that is unique and irreplaceable!

The Apollo 16 Lunar Surface Core Tube Cap

Driven across the surface of the Moon aboard the Lunar Rover

One of the rarest and most significant lunar artifacts on Earth!

We are pleased to offer one of the rarest of all possible lunar artifacts ;
namely, an object that was driven on the Moon aboard the lunar rover.

While any item that landed on the Moon is of the highest rarity, the most
desirable artifacts are those carried outside on the lunar surface itself.

The accompanying Apollo 16 "  Core Tube Cap  " is one such treasure!

This Core Tube Cap was part of the Apollo 16 "Core Tube Kit", and was
designed to seal the Core Tube to protect the soil sample housed within.

This remarkable object literally represents one of only a handful of items
now residing on Earth ever driven across the Moon aboard a lunar rover.

An Apollo 16 Lunar Map,
flown to the Moon's surface aboard the "Orion"!

A map that helped guide some of the first humans to landfall on the Moon!

Each of the six Apollo lunar-landings teams were supplied with a
"Lunar Orbit Monitor Chart", to use in the Lunar Module.

This chart consisted of a long paper strip-map composed of 24 individual plates.
Each of the plates, in turn, depicts approximately 5500 square miles of the lunar surface.

They were used by the astronauts to help navigate in the Lunar Module,
while preparing to descend to the Moon! This specific map, measuring some
8 x 10 inches, is "Plate 22" from the Apollo 16 Lunar Orbit Monitor Chart.

The map has been properly flight-certified by Charles M. Duke, Jr., from whose
collection it originates. Also accompanied by Duke's flight-certification certificate,
and archivally-housed in a Peachstate display case.

One of the most symbolically important, historic, and traveled maps
in the history of human exploration!

The Apollo 16 LM "Relative Trajectory Chart",

Lifting off from the Moon's surface to rejoin the orbiting Command Module was tricky business!
As such, the Moonwalkers received a plotting chart, by which they could literally plot their positions after liftoff!

This is the Apollo 16 Relative Trajectory Chart, used by Charles M. Duke, Jr., and still bearing his hand-plots!
Properly flight-certified by Charles M. Duke, Jr., and accompanied by his official certification certificate!

The charts and maps used by the first lunar explorers are among the rarest,
and most historic, artifacts from the entire pantheon of human exploration!

The Apollo 16 Lunar Module
"G&N" Dictionary Star Chart and Star Key!

One of the world's rarest star charts!

This Star Chart, with its accompanying Star Key, was used in the Lunar Module "Orion" on the Moon!
Its purpose was to allow the astronaut's to complete a "Lunar-Surface Alignment" after landing.

Just as ancient mariners used the stars on Earth to guide them across unknown seas,
so too did the first lunar explorers also reference the stars, even while on the Moon!

Both the Star Chart and Star Key have been properly flight-certified by
Charles M. Duke, Jr., whose certification certificate is included.

A Lighting Schematic from the Lunar Module!

One of the largest technical schematics in private hands ever used by Man on the Moon!
Each of the Lunar Modules was equipped with a set of technical diagrams.

This diagram, measuring over two-feet long, details the lighting system of the Lunar Module "Orion"!

Had the LM's lighting system failed on the Moon, the astronauts would have referenced
this diagram to troubleshoot the problem!

The schematic has been properly flight-certified by
Charles M. Duke, Jr., whose certification-certificate is included.

The Diagram was just inscribed by John Young as mission commander,
making this one of the few lunar-surface artifacts we know of
from any mission signed by both Moonwalkers!

"Reflections of a Lunar Voyager"
_________

by Charles M. Duke, Jr.

Handwritten letters from Moonwalkers are of the highest rarity.
Further, when examples do come to light, they are typically Jim Irwin letters with mixed content!
An examination of the Irwin letters in our Apollo 15 Section helps to underscore this point!

In 1999, Charlie Duke helped fill this void for Peachstate's clientele by writing-out a small quantity
of one-page accounts of his voyage to, and walk on, the Moon!

Each manuscript is in pristine condition, and also accompanied by a portrait of Duke with them!

We believe this manuscript to be one of the finest first-person handwritten accounts
by any Moonwalker of their voyage to, and walk on, the Moon!
